New Haven

Category: Places
New Haven, built upon the ruins and to the north west of "old" Haven this is where new members of Britannia start their journey. A city filled with quest givers designed to assist new players in advancing and learning about life in Sosaria, New Haven has history unlike any other city in the known realms.

New Haven Bank and Central Square

New Haven as a Hangout Location

Since New Haven is the first experience many Sosarians have in the realms that make up Ultima Online, it is often a gathering place of not only newer residents of the land, but of older citizens willing to pass off few tips and armor, weapons, and trinkets to those working to become established. Relatively new Britannia New Haven took over after the destruction of Haven.

Notable Locations in New Haven

New Haven Bank, located directly west from the gates of the city or North East of the Moongate, is the most popular hang out location in New Haven. The large square in front of the the bank makes it ideal for people to leave offerings for the new players of the realm to search through.

New Haven Central Square

Directly in front of the Bank, New Haven Square also borders the Tailor's, Provisioner's, Stables, Docks and Warrior's Guild.

New Haven: Risen from the Ashes

With the Birth of Trammel during the Renaissance, it was found that not all areas of Felucca were mirrored in Trammels creation. Occlo was transformed into the town of Haven, which for many months was only accessible by players with the "Young" status tag, Game Staff, and Volunteers (Seers, Companions, Counselors, ect.). After many months a new more reliable system for the use of Moongates was developed (the current menu system) and Haven became accessible by all.

Haven itself became a popular location as it was spacious and quieter than places like Luna Bank, many people frequented this location for years until the Dark Strangers arrived. The Dark Strangers offered in exchange for pieces of Black rock (a volatile arcane substances used to cast Armageddon) various highly sought after items, from valuable Runic Hammers, to Artifacts from Dungeon Doom. Somehow during their time there a great devastation resulting from someone casting the now infamous Armageddon spell destroyed the city of Haven, parts of it sank into the harbor, and other parts were left in ruins. Mysteriously not long afterwards New Haven rose almost overnight from and near the ruins of Haven. This New Haven has a mystery that it's residence do not wish to divulge, and no one knows how it rose so quickly.

New Haven, New Citizens

New Haven has much to offer new citizens of Britannia, the multiple skill trainers, and quests are excellent in assisting in development of any character. Unlike most NPC's the skill trainers in New Haven are able to train one up to 40% proficiency. This though isn't the only perk to training on the island that New Haven is built upon though. If one accepts a quest from a skill trainer in New Haven and goes to the ruins of Old Haven they gain at an increased rate while in the ruins until the quest is completed which is generally up to 50.0 skill. Completing the quests gives the new player a reward of a useful item associated with the skill after they return to the NPC that bestowed the quest upon them.

In addition to quests designed to focus on Skill training, one can find many escorts in and around New Haven. These escorts generally ask to be led to an specific shop or area inside New Haven. These escort missions yield 500 gold, in addition to adding to the virtue of Compassion. The short distance needed make these and excellent way for new players to earn the gold they will need to start their adventuring careers.

New Haven on Chesapeake

New Haven on Chesapeake is a regular place for many to drop items after hunts that while not superb are are excellent equipment for newer players. Guilds can often be found prowling it's streets along with non-guilded citizens helping new members with equipment and recruiting for their ranks. Often you can find members ofvarious guilds in Old Haven assisting new players as they complete quests to develop their skills and providing advice on how to further the development of their characters.

Add specifics for Chesapeake

This is a great article!! And it should probably eventually be placed on the UOCWiki Master site, not for specific shards. Your article stresses the role of New Haven for all communities, and that's what we will be doing on the UOCWiki Master site.

Can you add a section called "!! Chesapeake in New Haven" or something like that, to give us an idea of how Chesapeake uses New Haven? Maybe some personal observations of who hangs out there (what guilds), how people help people on Chesapeake in New Haven, etc. And provide external links to those guilds if you mention any.
