Group:Playwrights

(special) The playwrights are players who write plays to be performed in UO. They work individually or as a team to develop a play and turn it into something that can be performed in UO, typically on a single stage (player house). The playwrights have a private area on the UOCWiki to create their plays and collaborate.

Role of this Group

Current Theatrical Plays in Development (public introduction pages)

Admin: There is a problem with the above. It should not show pages in subcategories.

Group Capabilities and Permissions

Playwrights have several places on UOCWiki for their Play information and development. Categories have been developed as follows:

CategoryAccess LevelUse
* Culture Public This is the main Culture Category. No need to put anything in here. Look at the categories below.
** Theatrical Plays Public This is the main Theatrical Plays category. No need to put anything in here. Look at the categories below.
*** Help Public This is a category to add Help pages for Playwrights. Perhaps you have some suggestions on stage design? Some ideas on how to publicize your Play? Some do's and don'ts to make things easy for writing the play or performing it? Maybe some ideas on props, how stage-hands stealth around the stage, etc. Add whatever pages you think will help others. Offer your own experiences and lessons learned too.
*** In Development Public This is the MAIN public category for plays in development. Put ONE page in this category describing what you are doing in developing the play. Look at how the "real-world" formats and has information about UPCOMING plays and movies, and try to follow that style for the one page overview for your play-in-development. You can use this page for CALL FOR ACTORS or CALL FOR PLAYWRIGHTS, etc. Also add a timeline of your progress if you like, e.g., when you completed an initial draft of your script, when it is due back from reviewers, when you hope to have an opening performance.
**** New Plays PRIVATE
Group:Playwrights have access
This is a Private area for Playwrights who are starting information about a new play, but keeping it private for now. All people in the Playwrights group (and editors/admins) can see information in this category. This category basically gives you a head start to put some information into UOCWiki before you have a category created. This is useful for new concepts for new plays, and you want to reach out to other playwrights to generate interest.
**** (specific Play categories) PRIVATE
Group:Playwrights have access by default, unless requested to further limit access
Editors and Admins can add a Private category for all your work, that only you and the playwrights have access to. By default, all playwrights have access to your category since many playwrights work together on different plays. If you or a small team wish to solely develop the play without anyone else (except editors and admins) to see your information, request that, and editors/admins will set up the category with proper permissions and/or create a new User Group for your specific team.
*** Published Plays Public This is the MAIN public category for published plays. Put ONE page in this category describing the play. Look at how the "real-world" formats and has information about plays and movies, and try to follow that style for the one page overview for your published play. Also add a timeline of past performances and scheduled performances to your one page.
**** (specific Play categories) Public
We can apply Category permissions so only a specific Group can edit the pages.
Your pages go in this category to document scripts, scenes, props, stages, timelines, etc. Basically when your Play goes public, you can move your private In Development pages to your category here. We won't create a category for you until you ask the editors/admins to, or your play goes public (and we notice that, but don't rely on that please). Then you can move your pages to this public category. We wish to allow as many playwrights as possible to use your play on their shard or in other festivals unless you really want to keep the specifics of your play secret.
